Floyd Lai was the head of California State University San Marcos's Cross-Cultural Center from 2011 - 2023, where he engaged with students and their social justice and activism. Lai attended the University of California Irvine before coming to CSUSM. Lai witnessed the creation of the Black Student Center, and helped it grow by supporting and aiding students.
