LaPorcha Ellick came to California State University San Marcos in 2014 as Coordinator for Student Involvement, Student Life & Leadership. One of her primary roles was to support the Black student community and she arrived on campus during the student-led initiative to create the Black Student Center at CSUSM. Ellick was also very involved with the CSUSM Black Faculty/Staff Association, serving as its Secretary and President. In her interview, Ellick describes the positive benefits that the Black Student Center has provided to the students of CSUSM. .
